My name is Kimberly Whalen. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University and Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pfeiffer University of Graduate Studies. I provide therapy sessions for individuals, couples, and family systems. I work with diverse populations living with the following: Bipolar, clinical depression, anxiety, ADHD, addiction, P.T.S.D., grief, infidelity, eating disorders, parent-child and marital distress, life transitions, and day-to-day stressors.

My therapy approach is taken from an attachment perspective. I believe humans are wired to feel connected and benefit from healthy relationships. Without this connectedness, we may experience isolation or loneliness. I provide a safe, accepting space for my clients and utilize positive Existential and ACT Therapy Models supporting self-awareness, meaningful relationships, and values of life. Together, we will identify personal strengths creating affirmations of self-worth. We can explore intergenerational behavioral patterns and self-defense mechanisms that may influence current relationships. Most importantly, we will celebrate the freedom of empowerment, healing, and connectedness, which lead to personal growth. It would be a privilege to learn, collaborate, and grow with you. Join me at Miracles Counseling Centers, Inc. (704) 664-1009, where we can walk this path of personal growth together.

I enjoy working with children, adolescents, adults, and families to provide support, education, and objectivity.  I believe you are the expert in your own life; however it can be beneficial to talk with someone who can listen from a non-judgmental stance, provide empathy and understanding, while also offering a unique perspective to help you gain insight into your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and beliefs. Many times, the journey of counseling is initiated by a traumatic experience, at other times it can be a series of smaller trials and tribulations, either way, it can become a time of confusion and hopelessness.  I want to help you feel like you are not in your battle alone, while also empowering you to have confidence in yourself.  During this time, when one’s life resources have been exhausted, it becomes time to gather more tools to cope with the surprises and challenges life throws at us. We are all doing the best we can to navigate through this journey of life.  We do what works for us at that time and there is no shame in that.  Nevertheless, we can become aware of the negative consequences these coping strategies have produced and we yearn to learn new coping skills to manage through the stress, sadness, anger, and anxiety we are burdened with. My goal is to help identify more effective strategies to cope with these distressing emotions.  I am here to be your advocate, your confidant, your cheerleader, your coach, your teammate, and your safe place.  I am here for you.[/vc_column_text][/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=”Chavon M. I also have a Masters degree in Religious Studies from the University of California at Santa Barbara. The primary theoretical orientations that I use are person-centered, gestalt, and narrative therapy. I have experience working with individuals, couples, adolescents, children, and in a crisis response setting. From the very first appointment I want to get a sense of your story, a story only you can share: the story of how you became who you are, who helped you, what failures and successes you’ve experienced, what your dreams are, and what is holding you back from being truly happy. At the core of my approach to therapy is a commitment to authenticity and to meeting my clients where they are. To me authenticity means providing a safe environment for you to speak honestly and to be supported and encouraged. We suffer most, sometimes, when we feel alone or when we feel as if no one really knows who we are. Conversely, we feel better if there is at least one person in the world who listens and cares or who affirms us just for being ourselves. As a therapist I want to know you at your best and at your worst; I truly believe even the darkest parts of yourself can be the sources of an amazing transformation. I look forward to meeting you and being a part of that transformation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=”Mary Beth Rabon, LPC”][vc_column_text]I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s Degree in Community Counseling from Appalachian State University and over 15 years of comprehensive clinical experience.
