Hi all, thank you for taking a look at our page. My name is Adam Kurtz, LCMHC and I have been living in North Carolina for the past 14 years. I obtained my Masters in Clinical Counseling with a Substance Abuse focus from East Carolina University in 2018. Prior to that, I received my Bachelors in Psychology from Davidson College in 2015.
I believe that people have a great capacity to change, and immense resilience. My aim is to assist others in reaching their goals, overcoming their struggles, and living the life that they want. Based in this belief, I am solution focused in my approach. I employ Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral and general Rogerian techniques. I create an environment where my clients can grow, learn to utilize their strengths, and feel comfortable to take risks.
Clinically, I also have a passion for sports psychology and performance related issues and particularly enjoying working with highschool and college athletes. Additionally, I have experience working with a wide range of issues. Those issues include depression, anxiety, substance abuse, behavioral issues, ADHD, and Autistic Spectrum Disorders. I enjoy working with adolescents, families, and adults, in both individual and group therapy settings. I am also trained in Eye Movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to assisst in working through traumatic impacts in life. I have previous experience in addressing substance abuse and use, and have worked with Anuvia Recovery in Charlotte. Thank you for stopping by, Adam.
